A recruiter-facing case-study page: promoting a shipped app from a web portfolio
Built a public /case-study page for Mimi so the app can be promoted from a web portfolio — live status pills, a browser demo, the system architecture, and the engineering decisions, framed for a backend/working-holiday job search.
The honest tension behind this page: most of Mimi's hard engineering was AI-assisted, and an app lives behind the App Store where a recruiter can't just click it. So "I shipped an iOS app" risks sounding like a claim you can't show. This page is the answer to show me.
What it leads with
Not screenshots — proof the system is alive. The hero has three status pills: App Store (in review), TestFlight (live), and a production-backend pill that is a real health check hitting the actual API every 30s. A recruiter loading the page sees the backend respond, live. That's a different claim than a pretty mockup.
Then it removes the iPhone barrier: a "Try it in your browser" button to the web version, so anyone can use the real flow without installing anything.
What it actually argues
For a backend / working-holiday job search, the portfolio value isn't the UI — it's the system. So the page is weighted toward that: a layered Spring Boot backend, a provider-fallback AI client (Gemini → OpenAI → Claude), the YouTube-transcript POToken debugging, an AWS → NCP cloud migration, and an end-to-end App Store release pipeline. Each "engineering decision" card states the trade-off, not just the tech name — because the interview tests whether you can defend the choice, not whether you can list it.
The deliberately empty box
There's one dashed placeholder: a screen-recording slot. I can write the page; I can't fabricate a demo video of the app running. Leaving an honest "drop a 20–30s clip here" box is better than a stock image pretending to be the product. That recording is the single highest-leverage thing to add next — a recruiter will watch 30 seconds before they read a paragraph.
Lives at mimi.daeseon.ai/en/case-study once deployed. Pairs with the private
/learn hub (study notes to defend the build) — this page shows it, that one
prepares you to talk about it.
